PROJECT COORDINATOR
NWI Healthy Living Initiative

Healthvisions Midwest, a faith based community health organization that works within local communities served by the Poor Handmaids of Jesus Christ to reduce health disparities with the poor and under-served living in our communities, is seeking a part-time Project Coordinator to assist with community organizing activities associated with the development of the Northwest Indiana Healthy Living Initiative. Responsibilities Include:

  1. Administrator of monthly meetings held by the Healthy Living Consortium, a coalition of stakeholders addressing barriers currently limiting healthy living practices in East Chicago.
  2. Identify additional key stakeholders in the community that have similar goals of promoting healthy lifestyles for East Chicago residents.
  3. Develop a community plan of action addressing the East Chicago population health concerns and assist will dissemination of information to the East Chicago community.
  4. Identify funding possibilities to sustain the project after grant funds have been expended.

    Qualifications: Self directed individual with a minimum of an undergraduate degree in the areas of: social work, non-profit management or business. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Grantwriting experience a plus. 8 hours a week for a maximum of 32 hours per month.

Handyman Worker - provides repair and maintenance services to clients at their homes on a scheduled basis, primarily in Gary area. Services include raking leaves, lawn mowing, snow removal, trash removal and minor repairs. Must have own tools, driver's license and liability auto insurance. Start part-time with potential to full-time. Must be energetic and a team player. Starting rate $9.00 per hour, plus mileage. CHILD CARE TEACHER

Child Care TEacher working in licensed child care center with children three to six years of age. Associate's Degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education or Elementary Education. Some experience preferred but not required. Start part-time with potential to full-time. Must be creative, energetic and a team player. Starting rate $8.50 to $9.00 per hour.
